2007 New Zealand Armed Forces Law Conference

 “The Military-Civil Relationship: Conflict or Co-Operation?”

Wellington, 9-10 February 2007.

This conference will be held at the Trade Training School, Trentham Military Camp, Upper Hutt, and is open to all interested parties. 

The first day of the conference, the Director General’s Seminar of the Practice of Armed Forces Law, is sponsored by the Directorate of Legal Services, New Zealand Defence Force. Issues such as Health and Safety in Employment, ROE, current operations and developments in the LOAC will be discussed.

On the evening of the 9th a formal dinner will be held at the Wellington Club with all conference attendees invited. At this dinner the 80th establishment of the New Zealand Army Legal Service will be celebrated.

 The second day of the conference is sponsored by the AFLANZ. Key note speakers will present on the conference theme, the new Armed Forces legislation will be discussed in detail and a panel discussion will be held on relevant issues to armed forces law. 

We are pleased to announce that the conference will be attended and addressed by the President of the International Society for Military Law & Law of War: Mr Arne Willy Dahl. Mr Dahl also holds the appointment of the Judge Advocate General of the Norwegian Armed Forces.  Speakers have also been confirmed from Australia and the UK.

 The conference programme will be updated as speakers are confirmed.
