New Court's Martial Panel Members

A number of new members have been appointed to the Court's Martial Panel of Counsel.  The members of the panel are appointed as prosecutors of Court's Martial.  They may also be appointed as defence counsel under the NZDF legal aid scheme.

Traditionally those appointed to the panel have been Territorial Force or Volunteer Reserve officers who practice law in private practice.  In most cases they have not been members of the New Zealand Army Legal Service.  Rather, they are "General List" officers who can be called upon to apply their legal skills when required.

However, a number of the recent appointments are civilian lawyers, with no previous military connection.  The appointments from Christchurch are Brent Stanaway and Jonathon Eaton.  Brent is the Crown Solicitor for Christchurch and the West Coast, and is a partner in Raymond Donnelly and Co.  Jonathon is a Christchurch barrister.

A full list of the panel members will be added to the site shortly.

Those wishing to contact a member of the panel should email Col (retd) Bob Bywater-Lutman in the first instance.
